Volunteer Training and Introductions in Thailand

Volunteer Training for Success

We invite you to our free introduction days at our Center! We highly recommend all new volunteers come and spend a few days with us at our Center before they start! Experience volunteer training by doing, our ‘Learning By Doing’ style. Those who come, love it!

Learn about volunteer work and culture in Southeast Asia, about local education and how we, as an NGO, help. Learn about basic etiquette and local values, about our ‘Learning By Doing’ values and methods. You will also get a chance to learn some Thai or Laos! You get to practice your new language skills with street vendors, tuk tuk, drivers, in a food market and at a school. Discuss and exchange culture experiences, and learn and help to cook Thai-Lao food!

Join us. Make new friends. A kick start to your volunteering! Our trainees and staff come from the very grass roots projects with which we work. These days are free before you start when you enroll as an Openmind volunteer! Other volunteers and travelers are also welcome to join us too for a small fee.

Let us know when you are arriving – the best is on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, if possible. We will prepare for you to learn and work with our people, visit/teach at a school or other local project, and discuss your volunteer mission.

You may also have a chance to go on a guided tour with our trainees around NongKhai, learn about the giant Naga and the Golden Buddha from Laos when you visit the amazing, giant temple sculptures at Sala Kaeow Khu and the royal temple, Wat Po Chai, housing the stolen Buddha.

Your preparation today means your success tomorrow!
