This is the main goal of our organization, and it's great to see when people benefit from it. It is therefore wonderful that other people recognize this work too: we are on the 2022 GreatNonProfits Top-Rated List! This means that we are rewarded with a badge for great nonprofits. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this, we are happy to see that the work we do is being widely recognized!

New and Old Projects in Krabi
| | |
During the holidays, we have been working on (re)starting projects in the south of Thailand. Mui, who has been and will continue to be in charge of our projects in Krabi, collaborated on these projects with intern Karlijn. They went to Ban Nong Kok Primary School, where volunteers taught English before COVID-19 hit. They also visited another school, Ban Klong Wai Lek Primary School, that will soon be receiving volunteer teachers! During these weeks, Mui and Karlijn also looked into activities that volunteers could do to connect with local culture while volunteering. In short, some important projects are about to begin in the South, and there is plenty to do for new volunteers! We will soon publish more information on these projects and on all that Krabi has to offer.

Project: The School for Disabled Students
| | |
We mentioned a project that has been running since this summer in our previous newsletter. Online volunteers teach programming through "Scratch" at the school for disabled students, while on site volunteers help the students improve their English. Everything is IT-related in order to prepare them for future (online) jobs! After the holidays, the students will come back to the class and we will welcome even more students who were doing an internship before the holidays. This means that we will be helping over 40 students after the break! We agreed with the school to split these students up into three categories: one advanced group, one group that will focus on improving their English and IT skills and one group that will receive basic English and IT training. This way, we tailor the training to the needs of the students!
We are looking forward to welcoming (back) the old and new students after the break, where we will focus on getting them back on track with the English and programming. Before moving on to the different levels, the students will prepare presentations about all they have learned so far about these topics. This is all possible because of our dedicated online and on site volunteers!

Ongoing Development

As different projects are up and running again, we are also still working on a lot of new things! For the school of disabled students, we are developing a new curriculum. This will include dividing the group into subgroups, making sure that the students get education that matches their talents and interests. This new curriculum will be integrated in something else that Toto, Stoyan and our IT volunteers team have put a lot of hard work in: an online platform! On this platform, the students can present themselves and their skills and grow their network. They will acquire and enhance skills in this game-based environment, which makes sure they have fun while learning. The online platform will be freely accessible for all students, and it will include documents and media useful for learning. More on this soon!

News from Thailand
The intense rainfall of last month caused some parts of Thailand to flood, but we are happy that the Monsoon is (almost) over in most parts of the country! The country is getting more and more crowded with tourists, now that the government has decided to allow tourists to enter the country without any COVID-19 test and to extend the visa duration. The long weekend marking King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day gave a much needed boost to the tourism sector in the country, with Thai people going out for visits as well! Welcome back!
News in Nong Khai Now that the monsoon is over, the sun is shining brightly in Nong Khai again. We are well on our way to nice weather, and this is immediately noticeable by the many people going out on the streets! This means that it is the perfect time to welcome new volunteers again! Luckily, In November, we welcome Rebecca from Germany, the Bingbing family from the UK, originally China, Anton from Sweden (who already worked online with the disabled students), Imme from the Netherlands and Matas from Lithuania to Nong Khai and Krabi. Next to the volunteer project we currently have for the school of disabled students, we will welcome these volunteers to Arun Rangsi Primary School, where they will teach English to the children. We are looking forward to welcoming them to Nong Khai!

We are in the process of restarting projects across our various locations, so anything is possible. We will keep you informed of current and upcoming projects. In addition, we will soon launch a fundraising campaign in order to fund our project for the school of disabled students. We will soon publish more information about this, how we are doing it, and how you can help!
